To give credit where fully due, this MD-83 model was kindly provided by Burkhard Renk from his "AI collection."  I simply added the FSX animations and visibility controls, as well as a sample FSX Material... Wink  Grin

Hold off - there's a conversion in the works for gmax.  Note that there never has been a "real" gmax DC-3 source file, but the 3DSMax source file included in the SDKs has been the source (pun intended) of a couple of conversions

It should be available at either fsinsider.com, here, or some other authorized place.

You order/buy 3DSMax from either Autodesk directly, or through one of their resellers - presuming you have about US3,500.00 laying around burning a hole in your pocket.  You may be able to qualify for an academic license - about US500....  give or take.

The Max version of the DC3 is part OF the FSX SDK. If you cannot install the FSX SDK, then you also cannot get to the sample files!  Grin

Chuck Jodry and Jonbuoy have converted the DC-3 to gmax.  I see now that you're looking for the DC3 file itself!

The file conversions have currently been sent to Microsoft for approval by them for inclusion as part of the SDK and / or on the FSInsider website. Hopefully they will allow FFDS to host the files too, although as Fr Bill has already stated they will still be subject to the SDK's EULA, I would imagine.

Please note that Chuck is in no way responsible for the content of these files, they are solely my fault... Grin

Although thanks to Chuck who did initiate a line of communication between MS/ACES and us here at FFDS on the subject.

Hopefully they will be available before long, and then (perish the thought) one will be able to add, bombs, rockets, alien 'zappers', boy racer stripes or anything else that would take your fancy... Cheesy

John

I sent Phil Taylor a Zipped version on 30th Jan along with an article on the conversion as per his request. Have heard nothing since, he said he was grateful to receive it before Feb so maybe something to do with lead times. I haven't pestered him as I'm aware he's a busy man but I'll drop another mail if there is still no word by the end of the week.

Download link's not working for the samples. I guess due to the recent .com to .org change?
