One of my favorite books is "Pioneer Bush Pilot - The Story of Noel Wien" by Ira Harkey, published by Bantam Books. It's about the premier bush pilot in Alaska who's first plane was a Thomas Morse Scout biplane, if I remember right. Basically the book will take you through the glory days of avaition and some very classic airplanes, as well as some very historical flying events in Alaska's wilderness. You'll get introduced to the Curtiss Jenny, De Havilland DH4, Ford Tri-Motor, Belancas, Lockheed Vega, DC-3 and many more planes that are already in FS2004 and FSX.

Bush flying missions can be some of the most challenging, and this book would make great fuel-for-thought, as well as fantastic reading in general.
